Success Stories

“I never felt love before I got to Amity… everyone got together and learned to love their kids, some for the first time. Over the course of my life, every time I have been in need of love or protection someone from Amity has been there for me.”

Charles Shaffer, 28, Native Tucsonan
Journeyman Electrician, father of two
Albuquerque, New Mexico
1985 - 1987 Amity Family Services

“Before going to Amity I was in over thirty foster homes in a period of 18 months. I was given the chance to reunite with my father and sister through the family services at Amity. Had I not gone to Amity as a child, my sister and I would have never known what it was like to have each other today, and never had the opportunity to experience our parent’s love. We were going to be separated. My mother and father were given the opportunity to make changes in their lives that allowed them to be parents. We are very fortunate today to have one another and have our family.”

Doug Bond, 31, Native Tucsonan
Administrative Assistant
Los Angeles, California
1983 - 1985 Amity Family Services

“When I was five and lived at Amity I was helped by being around so many influences, more than just my mother. I was around good mentors who made me feel special and encouraged me with all of my life passions, including studying music. They encouraged me to feel that I could do anything I wanted… it really impacted me and got me where I am today. Learning integrity and analyzing what that meant was very good for me.”

Leona Daniella, 27, Native Tucsonan
Fashion Designer
Los Angeles California
1986 - 1989 Amity Family Services

“I have served as the Principal Investigator and/or evaluator of Amity’s women’s and children’s programs. I can attest to the quality of services and the enhanced outcomes, (reduced drug use, reduced criminality, improved parenting) when children of the women are able to live with their mothers at Amity’s Circle Tree Ranch. We look forward to continuing our professional relationship with Amity and hope that through this proposal availability of residential services
will increase.”
